Organ Donation
Many of our clients decide to donate their organs. The most common variations on instructions are as follows:
No preference/agent decides. Clients often use this option because they are concerned if they have “organ donor” marked on their license, medical personnel will not work hard enough to save them. These clients do not add “organ donor” to their licenses and instead have a conversation with their healthcare agent about their wishes.

Organ donation for transplant and therapy only. This is a good option for people who want their organs to be able to help individuals but do not want their organs donated for educational/research purposes or who have religious concerns. Most religions encourage or accept organ donation, as desecration of the body is allowed if it will save the life of another. Here is a link to a list of explanations under different religious teachings.

Donating your Body to Science. If you want to donate your body to science, note that on your burial/cremation instructions. Many clients intend to donate their body as a whole, with no organs donated, so they mark no organ donation on their healthcare directive.
